You know, it's always, it's always dangerous in politics to talk to the crowd, and not be aware how it looks or sounds on television. Ouch. But then again, show me the person who after viewing the Hillary clip says "yeah, that's the ticket. I've been on the fence but now I'm voting for her." .
Jindal eases hiring freeze at hospitals
The administration of Gov. Bobby Jindal has granted an exception to its government hiring freeze for vacant positions related to direct patient care at the state's Charity hospitals, the governor's finance office said Saturday. The decision will let the public medical institution in New Orleans proceed more quickly to meet an ambitious hiring plan designed to keep up with a growing demand for services. On Jan. 15, Jindal froze hiring at all state agencies unless special permission was granted by Commissioner of Administration Angele Davis. The state public hospital system, which has vacancies for 109 registered nurses and more than 200 other positions in New Orleans, complained that the process would impair its effort to rebuild services lost after Hurricane Katrina. Davis, in a letter sent Friday, gave authority to Louisiana State University System President John Lombardi to fill any vacant position for direct patient care at the 10 state public hospitals he oversees.

I am not proud of what I have done, and I am not proud to testify against a man I once admired. To those who have suggested that I take some personal satisfaction in bringing down Roger Clemens, let me assure you that nothing could be further from the truth. I take responsibility for my actions in the hopes that others may learn from my mistakes. My father, who served for over 24 years with the New York City police department, instilled in me that people are human and make mistakes, and that I should always step up and acknowledge my mistakes despite the consequences. And so here we are. Providing information to federal investigators has been very painful for me. I did not seek out federal investigators; they sought me out. I did not want to cooperate because I knew that if I told the truth, I would be providing damaging information against people who I worked for.

Fred Thompson blasts the legalization bill from the right and his support among Hispanics quintuples, putting him ahead of McCain (and Giuliani) among Hispanics. ... P.S.: These are Hispanic Republicans, of course. But they are not insignificant, making up 17% of "likely Republican Primary voters" in Survey USA's model. ... P.P.S.: McCain's loss (and Thompson's gain) was actually greater among Hispanics than among GOP voters generally. ...
